Group Lesson Safety
Safety is our number one priority. At the forefront of our lessons is a safety briefing and no archer is given a bow and an arrow together without first having a safety briefing from an instructor. The first group lesson generally takes another half of an hour as we allot time to adjust each archer and make sure that they are not only safe, but in the correct archery posture to shoot their best.
Archery Tag Safety
Archery Tag uses the industries only patented non-lethal arrow combined with a low poundage recurve bow. These arrows travel at approximately 150 feet per second and have an average kinetic energy output of 15 foot pounds, which is ¼ of that of a paintball. What’s more is that these arrows leave no bruises or welts often found when a participant plays paint ball. Archers wear a paintball mask and have the option to wear a padded vest, although most choose not to. A safety barrier is set up to prevent a participant being shot at ranges of less than 20 feet, however participants can be shot at any distance without harm. Strict rules are enforced and a safety briefing is always conducted before the session begins. Each archer is also given an opportunity to practice with the Archery Tag bow and arrow at a fixed target prior to the game beginning.
Individual Lesson Safety
At the individual level, it is expected that Archers are familiar with safety practices. However, we will brief each archer on the first lesson as to basic safety practices.
